If you believe that the best things in life come wrapped in a crispy, golden-brown pastry, you are in for a proper treat. Mediterranean cuisine is famous for its love of pastry arts, and in Turkey, dough-rolling is considered a beautiful culinary craft passed down through generations.

At Lezzet Turkish Kitchen, we bring this authentic, crispy tradition straight to St Mary Street. Before you plan your next mid-week dinner in the city centre, take a look at our exciting hot meze selection to discover a hand-rolled classic that everyone at the table will fight over: Sigara Böreği.

Why "Sigara" Böreği?

Don't let the name confuse you! While the literal translation is "cigar pastry" due to its elegant, thin, and rolled shape, this dish is pure, comforting vegetarian goodness.

The secret to a perfect Börek lies in the paper-thin pastry dough called Yufka (or filo). Historically, home cooks and palace chefs would compete to see who could roll the thinnest, most delicate layers of dough. It requires a gentle hand, patience, and a lot of love.

A Melt-in-Your-Mouth Blend

At Lezzet, our chefs roll each Sigara Böreği by hand with precision. Instead of a basic single-cheese filling, we create a rich, aromatic blend inside each delicate parcel:

  • Rich Feta & Melty Mozzarella: A perfect hot, gooey cheese combination that stretches beautifully with every bite.

  • Fresh Spinach & Fennel: Perfectly seasoned greens that add a fresh, earthy depth to the rich cheese.

  • The Golden Breadcrumb Crunch: We coat the rolled parcels in seasoned breadcrumbs before deep-frying them to absolute golden, crunchy perfection.

The result? An incredible contrast between the crispy, crunchy outer shell and the warm, melting, herb-infused cheese center.

Your Mid-Week Crunchy Escape

Pair these crispy golden parcels with a cool dip of Tzatziki (Cacik) or share them around the table alongside a warm plate of Falafel & Hummus. It’s the ultimate way to bring a little bit of Mediterranean sunshine to a Cardiff Wednesday.
