As we head into the weekend, everybody in Cardiff is looking for something a bit special to kick off their Friday night. If you love discovering unique dishes that are as beautiful to look at as they are delicious to eat, we have a proper treat for you.

When you explore [our exciting menu options] on St Mary Street, your eyes will immediately be drawn to one specific starter with a beautifully royal name: Pembe Prenses, which literally translates from Turkish to "The Pink Princess."

Why is it called the Pink Princess?

In Turkish food culture, cold starters (mezes) are designed to satisfy both the palate and the eyes. The name Pembe Prenses comes from the striking, naturally bright pink colour that happens when fresh ingredients are perfectly combined.

It’s not made with artificial colours or fancy tricks. Instead, it gets its royal velvet hue entirely from a classic combination:

  • Roasted Beetroot: Sweet, earthy, and packed with summer goodness.

  • Creamy Yogurt & Garlic: A rich, tangy base seasoned with olive oil that creates a perfectly balanced dip.

The Perfect Friday Night Starter

If you're looking for something light, fresh, and properly lush to share with mates this weekend, this dish is an absolute must-order. It is naturally vegetarian and gluten-free, making it the perfect crowd-pleaser for the start of your meal.

Pair it with our freshly baked, warm homemade bread, scoop up that gorgeous creamy beetroot, and you’ll instantly understand why it earned its royal title.
